Tooting my own horn
It has been over two years since I started looking into Bariatrics and how to provide this expertise to my patients. In that time I have taken countless hours of continuing education lectures. I have attended three national conferences (one while 9 months pregnant). I sat for an oral test in front of two seasoned examiners (who regularly lecture nationally). I took the written portion of the test over two days with a near riot ensuing by the testees out of concern for how difficult the test was the first day. The clinic evaluation and chart review was done by the head of the examining committee (who got lost trying to find the office). I am not sure I could handle any more anxiety but it is now over as I have PASSED the test. I am now a Diplomate of the Board of Bariatic Medicine. This separates me from others who hang out a sign and offer weight loss in that I am considered a specialist in the field of overweight and obesity. Please share the excitement that I feel in that the quality of care that we provide has been approved by the Board of Bariatric Medicine.
